Research Specialist, Institute for Advance Learning and Research, Danville, Virginia, 1/2008-current
- Micropropagation and bacterization of poplar trees.
- Azalea micropropagation with different hormones and various conditions.
- Study the function of matrix metalloproteinase genes in Arabidopsis growth and development using overexpression and knockout via the double-stranded RNA interference (dsRNAi) technique.
Research Assistant I, Department of Horticulture, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, 1/2005-12/2007
- Studied the impact of transposable elements (TEs) on rice genome evolution, such as Pack-MULE-CBF and ddm1 genes.
- Responsible for rice tissue culture and transformation for several projects, such as production of CBF (C-repeat binding factor) overexpression and knock-down transgenic lines.
- Made overexpression and knockdown dsRNAi constructs with DNA recombinant technique.
- Analyzed transgenic plants with molecular tools, such as Southern and Northern blots, PCR, and RT-PCR.
- Performed rice anther culture.
- Screened Arabidopsis CBF knock-down homozygous transgenic lines.
- Oversaw and managed lab daily work.
