Laboratory
Our facilities at the IALR consist of over 3,000 sq. ft. of laboratory space, consisting of 3 actual labs, a microscopy and imaging room, a radioisotope room, a tissue culture facility, and a plant growth room.
Other
We are currently preparing an RFP for a 4,200 sq. ft. greenhouse to be located adjacent to the IALR. This is expected to be completed by the summer of 2007, prior to the proposed start date of this current proposal.

The facilities at the IALR are well-suited for the molecular biology/biochemistry, cell biology, and tissue culture requirements of this proposed project.
Molecular Biology Equipment: 1 speed-vac (Eppendorf), 1 freeze dryer (Labconco), 7 benchtop microfuges (Hettich, Eppendorf), 2 refrigerated centrifuges (Hettich, Beckman Allegra 22R), 1 non-refrigerated centrifuge (Beckman Allegra 22), assorted centrifuge rotors, 6 shaker incubators (VWR, New Brunswick Scientific), 2 spectrophotometers (Nanodrop, Eppendorf), 1 electroporation system (Bio-Rad Gene Pulser), agarose electrophoresis rigs plus associated power pacs (VWR, Bio-Rad), protein electrophoresis systems (Bio-Rad Mini-Protein II and PROTEAN IEF Cell), 2 gel blotters (Bio-Rad, Schleicher and Schuell), 2 slot blotters (Schleicher and Schuell), 9 gradient PCR machines (Bio-Rad MyCycler, Bio-Rad MJ Minicyclers, Stratagene Robocycler), 1 real-time PCR machine (Bio-Rad ICycler), 1 genetic analysis system (Beckman CEQ8800), 1 plate reader (Beckman DTX 880) coupled with a liquid handling robot (Biomek 3000), gel drying systems (Fisher), 1 hybridization oven (UVP), 1 gel imaging system (Alpha Innotech FluorChem), 1 phosphorimager (Bio-Rad PMI), 1 scintillation counter (Beckman).
Refrigeration: 4 refrigerators (VWR), 1 –20oC upright freezer (VWR), 2 –80oC upright freezers (VWR, Thermo-Electron). Microscopy: 2 inverted fluorescence microscopes (Olympus), 1 compound fluorescence microscope (Olympus), 2 compound microscopes (Olympus).
Tissue Culture: 5 six foot flow hoods, 7 two-door growth chambers (Enconair, Percival), 6 tissue culture incubators (Percival, VWR), 1 cryo-preservation system (VWR).
